"2003 marks the 14th year that the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce will present its Victorian Candlelight Stroll. The event has grown to attract approximately 10,000 people, all of whom join the guided stroll through our Heritage District carrying Celebration Candles.

Candles are sold from six different booths located in a two block area of our Heritage District, at a cost of $2 each. Over 100 volunteers participate in the event, with candle-sellers, people directing traffic and others participating in the choirs. 14 choirs and musical groups participate, spread out along the stroll route, and provide one and a half hours of entertainment for our guests.

Proceeds from the Candlelight Stroll remain in the community. In 2002, the funds were donated to the community swimming pool, for installation of a handicapped lift that will allow residents of all ages and abilities to use the pool.

The assistance from Newville Candles in getting the event established has been strong from day one and co-operation continues to be extensive, 14 years later. We are proud to be associated with a company that demonstrates such strong community spirit."
